“To Be Rather Than To Seem” is a powerful statement regarding the mission of St. Malachy’s Memorial High School. That mission aims to develop students both academically and culturally. Many past students of St. Malachy’s have lived their lives exhibiting the commitment to family and community for which the school motto stands. In 2013, the Alumni Association launched an annual award to be presented to an individual who has lived their life in the spirit of this motto: “To Be Rather Than To Seem”.
All entries will be considered based upon the following criteria.
1. Dedication to the school community
2. Dedication to the broader community
Each year the Alumni Association will strike a committee to
review all nominees and select a recipient.
AND THE REICIPIENT
The recipient will be announced in advance of the annual
alumni dinner and will be contacted by the chair of the committee.
RECIPIENT WILL RECEIVE...
The recipient will be presented with
a commemorative plaque at the alumni dinner in recognition of their service. As well, their name will be engraved on the main plaque located in the school lobby.
